🚀Optimizing Workflows: My Self-Developed Tool “Document Assistant” ⚖️

05 January 2026

I have recently completed the development of Document Assistant — a cross-platform productivity tool designed specifically for legal professionals.

Why did I build this?

As legal practitioners, we are often buried in repetitive clerical work. Every new case — whether criminal defense, civil litigation, or corporate legal counsel — requires a specific set of standardized documents. Manually copy-pasting client names, addresses, and dates into multiple Word templates is not only time-consuming, but also prone to human error. I wanted to build a solution that allows lawyers to focus on legal analysis and strategy, rather than formatting and data entry.

What does it do?

Document Assistant acts as a bridge between structured data and Word templates, offering a seamless automation experience:

How to use it

  1. Define – Set up your case category in the sidebar
  2. Import – Add your .docx templates and define input fields (e.g. “Client Name”)
  3. Fill – Enter case-specific information once
  4. Generate – Click Generate and watch your entire document package appear in seconds

The Technical Journey

Building this tool required navigating complex cross-platform challenges, particularly ensuring stable performance on the latest macOS Apple Silicon (M3) and Linux environments.

The project is fully integrated with GitHub for version control, iteration, and future enhancements.

A huge thank you to my colleagues for testing early builds and providing invaluable feedback on UI/UX improvements.

I’m excited to continue exploring the intersection of Legal Tech and Automation.
If you are interested in how automation can streamline professional workflows, I’d be happy to connect.
